Shay began her pilot journey with the Young Eagles program at 12 years old and never looked back. She has worked at Mach 5 since her student pilot days in 2021 and has done all her flight training with us since. While she is committed to flight instructing with Mach 5 for several years, eventually she plans to go to the airlines, flying either passenger or cargo. Down the line, she would like to own and operate her own flight school as well as start a non-profit geared towards first-generation pilots like her.

Outside of flying, Shay is a full-time college student, and she enjoys the outdoors, any sort of adventure, and giving back to her community through volunteer work. She currently serves as a mentor and scholarship panel member for the Auburn Aviation Association, as the secretary for our local EAA Chapter 526, and works both on the ground and in the air for the EAA Young Eagles program.
